Mario Party DS

Mario Party DS- Cover

We all remember the classic Mario Party games for the N64, Gamecube, and now the Wii. About a month ago advertisements began to spring up in gaming magazines for Mario Party DS. I don’t know about you guys but, I was looking forward to this game. It was released on November 19, 2007 in the US and I got my hands on it a few days ago. Sure enough, as soon as I turned it on, it was like a blast from the past! Mario was springing into action with the rest of the gang in a miniature version of the previous Mario Party games.

I was instantly hooked on the easy, fun, and addictive game-play during party mode. Features like DS download play allow other people to play with you in both party mode and mini-game mode even if they don’t have the game card. Mini-games often use the touch screen and microphone to add to the laughter while playing with friends. If you liked playing Mario Kart DS with your buddies then I would recommend getting Mario Part DS!

Zelda Feather Stylus has Arrived!

11-16-07_1507.jpg

Sorry for the lack of updates, recently my teachers have been all craming in their tests at the last minute right before Thanksgiving break. School officially ends on Tuesday of next week, so until then, I probably won’t be able to post anything else. Anyways, here’s a look at the Zelda Feather Stylus that arrived in my mailbox today! Keep reading for pictures.

These pictures were taking using my SLVR L9, so sorry for the quality.

Happy Birthday Miyamoto!

Today, November 16th, is our favorite Nintendo game designer Shigeru Miyamoto’s Birthday! Whether he’s designing another Zelda game or amazed at the success of recently released Super Mario Galaxy, he’s THE man. He turns 55 as of today, and here’s to another great year of gaming. Let’s all wish him a Happy Birthday!

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker

Joker cover

Proudly presenting my first game review (and hopefully not my last!) on the recently released Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker. Yesterday, after stopping by at gamestop, I picked it up for $39.99 and was anxious to test it out. My first impression of the game was… nothing short of amazing! Square Enix pulls through with another great game that resembles the same type of battle tactics as the Final Fantasy games. The game idea derived from Dragon Quest V, where players had the cability to befriend monsters. Some monsters only appear during the day while others appear during the night adding to the variety of monsters you can befriend. After getting into the game a little your able to synthesize monsters above level 10 to make more powerful ones.

Bosses and temples prove to be challenging, but not overly frustrating. The graphics (which are actually really good for the DS), sound, gameplay, and storyline are excellent. This game is a must have in your arsenal of DS games!

Nintendo Ends Support of NES

nes.jpg

As of November 2, 2007, Nintendo has officially ended all repairs for the original Nintendo Entertainment System after 24 years of support. This is due to a shortage of manufactured parts for the NES a spokesman says. Nintendo’s Ken Toyoda says that while it’s sad to turn its back on the NES, they wanted the video game population to instead focus on the Wii. Considering that you can still purchase NES games through Virtual Console, the NES will continue to live on throughout the next generations of gaming.

Considering Square-Enix has no plans to bring FFTA2:GOFTR to the states, users of Gbatemp.net have started a fan translation based on images that they have taken of while playing the game. This project looks very promising, so look forward to a release in the coming months. Even if a release doesn’t come, the full pack of translated screenshots may be enough to get you through the game. Continue reading for screenshots of the actual project.

PictoChat in Brawl?! NoWai!

This has to be the craziest map ever created. There probably isn’t any real intergration with the DS, but who would’ve ever thought of making a map like this? Brawl just keeps getting better and better everyday. Makes me kinda wonder what will come up next. Using your DS as a controller for Brawl? Probably not, but mabye some sort of DS functionality would be creative after seeing this.
